Beauty Haul: Everyday Essentials from the Drugstore

everyday makeup

Is it a dupe? I don't have to spend $30 on mascara? So recently, I went on a essential make-up shopping spree. I've always watched beauty videos and know all the new beauty products, but I've never actually went out to buy them myself. The theoretical make-up world has been with me for a while. Actually wearing make-up outside...well, that's new. My make-up collection is starting up and I thought some of the products I bought are good essentials. A bit of research had been done to see which of these products could be dupes for the higher end ones and which were just overall necessities. I have tried out all of these products, so I have some thoughts on them.

1. Maybelline Lash Sensational (Waterproof)-Very Black- x
2. Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy- 105 Bet on Love-x
3. Wet N Wild-Color-Icon Glitter Shadow-Spiked-x
4. Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge-x
5. Loreal La Palette Nude 1-x
6. Loreal Infallible Pro Matte Gloss in Nude Allude-x
7. e.l.f. Shadow Lock Eye Primer-x
8. e.l.f. Clear Makeup Mist & Set-x

From other reviews I've read, this mascara is supposedly the dupe for the Benefit Roller Lash. I can't confirm that, but as far as volumizing and lengthening, it does a great job. It's waterproof and it stays that way. I wore this out for a whole day and it had very little transferring.

I'm wearing this color now as I'm writing this. I'll be honest , it's a lot more sheer than I thought. I had to give it a good 2-3 coats before it looks as pink as it does in the bottle. As far as the staying power, I've had them for a week before I took them off and it had a bit of chipping at the top of my nails. As long as you have a top coat, it should last a while. I love this polish alone, but it's cute as a base if you wanted to add glitter and accents.

I needed an inexpensive option for silver glitter shadow. I thought this would be perfect since it was under $1 for it. It comes it a lot of glitter colors as well. The consistency is creamy, but it feels like it just melts away on your hand. It's not a bad thing except it feels like it's slipping off my eyelids. If you're careful, you can layer it on top, but it's hard to control and it can take off your base eye makeup. Overall, it'll get the job done but it doesn't do the best job.

A dupe for the Beauty Blender??? Well again, I can't confirm. But this thing is amazing and it's so soft once you run it under water. It applies my foundation and powder evenly and it's doesn't look cake-y. I've washed it once, and it felt like i shrunk a little, so I'm concerned at its longevity. But for $6 I think it's worth it.

Did you know that L'oreal owned Urban Decay? When I saw this palette, I thought of the Naked palettes, with the similar shape and colors. The LA Palette Nude 1 has warmer tones, including pinky nudes. There is a really good range of shimmers and mattes, with highlight shades and perfect transition colors. You can get a lot of product in one swipe but it's still a little chalky. I've worn it for about 8 hours once and it held up well. I had the e.l.f. eye primer underneath and it really helped with the longevity. The color payoff is great, especially with the matte shades. The shimmer shades are harder to build up and layer.

I love a bold lip, but I also love a nude lip. So when I saw this color, I was completely drawn to it. It's a nice bold lip color, but still has the nude-brown tone. Overall, it looks like a red-fuchsia that can be worn during the day or at night. The doe foot applicator is amazing and allows a lot of control. The consistency of the product itself is like an oxymoron. The feeling of it on your lips is kind of slippery and glossy (in a good way), but if you take a look in the mirror, it looks matte. The color is opaque like a liquid lipstick but feels like a gloss.

Lastly, I got the e.l.f. Clear Makeup Mist and Set. I had to change the bottle so the spray nozzle is better, I've got to say I wasn't as happy with it as I'd thought I'd be. It feels refreshing but it also feels wet like my foundation and eye makeup is going to run with it. It'd say it does its job, but I'd like to try other setting sprays too.

I hope you enjoyed this lengthier post, and found any of these products interesting! I hope to build my makeup collection this year, while saving some money, so if you know any holy grail drugstore products, let me know!

«Until next time! x»
